about

this was the last album I ever recorded in New Hampshire, before moving to Florinda. and I thought it was proper to recorded in the studio where I first recorded my first ever album as a soloist, THE ELECTRIC CAVE. This time the amazing Marc McElroy handled the board and mixes, and he even played some Hammond on the album. This album marked a departure from what people back then knew me for. As it's always with nationalities and cultural backgrounds, people have the tendency to frame you in a specific style. Me, being originally from Venezuela, was no exception. Also, unfortunately, listening to the advice of a well-known drummer in Los Angeles who I knew(who shall remain nameless): "well you're from Venezuela dude, you need to bring the colors of your country upfront, etc etc". Which I did, and even though I enjoyed very much playing in that style. I hated the feeling of being typecast in that role. "I'm Latino, and I play Latin-jazz". In reality, everybody should play the music they feel like playing and whatever it's close to their hearts of whatever moves their inner core of sensitivities and vehicles of expressions. I've never felt comfortable playing Latin styles, as it was the total opposite of what I grew up listening to. 1970's Jazz Fusion, or Jazz-Rock, Progressive Rock, Jazz and Classical is what I love. I tried to incorporate all those styles into this fragile album. This album also marks the first time I played some overdub keyboards on my tunes, in a way, signaling what will be coming next in my musical adventures. This power fusion trio was one of the biggest and proudest moments in my humble musical career.
